Lighting, doors, windows

Hello yes I'm still here.

I am not yet at the point where most renovations start.
I can't imagine how easy it must be to simply repaint, put in a new kitchen/ bathroom, build a deck, put some new flooring in.  9 months and I am not yet at that point.

I can now see the end of my budget.

However things are falling in to place a lot easier these days and it will only keep getting easier. My family have really pulled together in recent times to try and get me over the line which I'm so grateful for as everyone is still so stressed and busy at the moment.

In order to help with the water damage (left)  I borrowed a safety harness and absailed on the roof to repair it. It involved re-drilling new roofing screws, siliconing up holes and temporarily bridging large holes with foil. The house has been relatively dry since. Next is to paint a few roof areas with anti-rust paint then repaint

A major achievement was getting the new lounge sliding door in. I've made it look nice and quick here but it took 1.5 work days!

Each stud has had to be carefully straightened with a level. I've thought about lining that period arch with an LED strip - period shmeriod! How tacky and "Las Vegas" - love it.

A sheet of plyboard was put between what will be the dining area and the bathroom on the right there. This will help with sound insulation between 2 areas you dont really want next to each other, and also act as extreme bracing strength.

New door frame on the left, lots of strengthening on the right - new base plate, noggins etc.

Straightening all the ceiling joists ready for plaster will be an awful job. There's still black lead dust everywhere up there and when you touch anything vigorously, it falls on your face. (and in to your lungs along with all the lead paint flecks and asbestos)

The bathroom - temporary foil to try and keep the rain out. The weatherboards can go on now that the windows have been installed.

Looking through the back (soon to be installed) door where the new straight line kitchen will be following in to the lounge. The bathroom is on the left.

Now ready for weatherboards along this wall.

The hallway still has to have window holes cut for high windows to be installed. They will be up high simply to let light in.

The front door is on its last legs. It can hardly close with all the water damage. Somone tried to kick it in recently too so the frame is coming off. One of the next urgent jobs is getting a new front door in.

Some yob thought it fit to come and tag my electricity box whilst we were working inside with the front door open! As long as he doesn't touch the house.....

New lounge window - up high simply for light. I've put black dust all over the neighbouring house so I'll have to clean it (and I'm the one looking at it anyway!).

A little team meeting in the dark one night.

I have been visiting lighting shops to research lighting.  I have also seen you can import cheap RGB LEDs from China on ebay.
If it has an edge LINE IT WITH A RGB STRIP!

The coolest website I've ever seen also happens to be a lighting place I came across at Grand Designs show last year: Volker Haug in Brunswick, Melbourne. Unfortunately it now seems I won't be able to afford any of their lights for this particular project.
Their website is totally interactive and and awesome. Take a look.

You can design your own custom pendant lights. AGH!

They have lots of colour and crazy things. You may have noticed I love colour.
