Floorless victory

All the floors are now up, and the walls have been started on. Just getting some more restumping quotes before going ahead with any one person.

Amount of trips to Bunnings so far: 7

Now for some photos...

I feel like a chook in my new protective suit. I've been trying to think of costumes for a big upcoming Halloween party....

Kate and Nick came to help pull the rest of the floors up on Saturday - THANK YOU! There was lots of 'Warner Brothers' slapstick action such as bodies flying backwards against walls etc.

One neighbour walked past and said "Thank you" to us - presumably because we're finally fixing the local eyesore. Another neighbour chortled at the ambitiousness of the project-  suggesting that it should be instead knocked down.

After all the floors came up. I had to remove all the rotten joists and bearers in the front 2 X rooms but these back ones might be OK - I'll have to get someone's professional opinion. That grafitti face on the wall is also mocking my ambitiousness.

Can you please wipe your feet before you come in to my beautiful hallway?

Public liability piled up precariously in the front garden. OH and look at what turned up - on the right. ;)

Looking right / west from the front of my house. (There's a Centrelink/ welfare centre being built just there. So handy in case of tough times!) Byron Street is so close to central Footscray, that it contains shops and 2 Hour Parking (unfortunately)

On Sunday, I started ripping down walls. I keep visualising myself sitting there watching TV eventually.

Running out of space to dump rubble. A man is coming tomorrow morning to take it all to the tip - a full truck packed by him for only $270 - DONE. Cheaper and much easier than a skip.

  1. Wow, big progress. The grafitti is almost-almost cool looking if you don't inspect too closely. I reckon you should incorporate some sort of tag in the final thing - maybe on a garden wall? As homage to the home's past! : )

    1. A really good idea. My Aunt suggested similar. Do you think I should keep a piece of the original wall or something? Otherwise yeah, commission something new for garden art. Oooh can't wait to get to that stage. FFWD!

    2. Keep some of the wall if you can get a "good" bit intact but I reckon commission something that's inspired by but is cool and gothy and escher-ish (or HR geiger). although you did seem pretty keen on Bathroom bot. : )
