The carpentry phase continues

Still in the carpentry phase - a phew more weeks to go. Its off to the hardware store in the morning to get yet more wood.

To extend the roof, I had to buy some pieces of tin roofing then cut them in to strips with the angle grinder, then file them with a file - finally something I had some experience with.

They then had to be slid under the existing tin to extend the roof. Because the house was on a lean, the tin retracted on one side not sufficiently covering the house. We had to guess where it protruded where the guttering would go on the barge boards.

Here is me, my Dad and a friend of my folks Anne who is also a big fan of my blog.  (I think the significance at the time was the Tivoli Copenhagen artwork, somewhere where we've all been and enjoyed.)  Thank you very much Anne for the terrific dinner party!

Me being papped coming out of Footscray Milking Station on morning -I'd put the "Hoop of Horror" over the whole body at the moment.

My Dad and I cutting the stop out. Look how harmoniously we work together! (snigger)

It was a bit complicated to break the front part of the house away from the back, as with all the wall straightening, they now sit at different places on the floor.

Annaliese coming for a visit as always. Note the new double glazed aluminium window in the  background - didn't bother trying to put another Victorian sash window in.

I work right near the Block 2013 Sky High building. I went on my lunchbreak like the fan girl I am and climbed the fence to look inside at some guy trying to eat his lunch.   (Overseas readers: big rating renovating show here)

My street looks absolutely disgusting at the moment and for once I'm not causing it - the water pipes are being replaced and the railway trucks have completely torn up the road and foothpaths. It will all have to be resurfaced at the end of it all

We put this stupid black aluminium door frame in to match the black aluminium double glazed back door but... being aluminium it was too flexible and hard to fit so I have now abandoned it for a wooden door frame. Once again, add it to the waste of money pile!

Some of the food the Vietnamese neighbours have brought over - some sort of sweet slice, chocolate cake and home made spring rolls. Foodblogfoodblog

  2. House construction is a very challenging job, particularly the roofing part. But seeing you up there working on your roof inspires me, and I'm sure a lot of people felt the same way. Anyway your soon-to-be neighbor definitely knows how difficult house construction is, that's why they cheering you up with a sweet treat.
