Anyway, that's fine, it's not my problem to fix for now. The restumping guys have borrowed pumping equipment that they had to use on their little generator. Yep- the builders pole still hasn't been connected to the electricity.
I've met 2 plumbers over the last few days as I'm lining up the next job - roughing in the gas/ water. After this and the heating ducts, the floors can go down :D
Things I need to do (I'm writing this even just for my own benefit)
- Ring City West Water and order a water meter (EDIT: Done)
- Ring a gas company and get a gas meter (EDIT: Done)
- Organise the heating ducts - Mark up a 2D plan for a heating duct company
- Work out what sort of hot water system I'm using to dictate the size of gas pipes (EDIT: Done)
- Get a 2D plan and send it to the plumbers
I went to a friends last night who had recently decorated her house exactly to her taste. Her arty personality was everywhere. We had such fun going through all the furnishings, wall colour, carpet, trinkets, artwork. I just cannot WAIT until I get there.
How the house looks currently. I can see people in the street do a double take when they walk past and sneak a look inside.
You can't really see this in the photo but there is a huge step DOWN to get in to the house now.
Some of the trapped pools of water. The guys can't anchor anything whilst the ground is so wet. Once it is stumped and raised however, it will be fine.
The pumping equipment
The house is resting on those orange air things ready to be lifted. They can't raise the house as high as they would like, as there is no way they can prevent the house from falling sideways on to the next house - there is only a 20cm gap between my house and the next on one side. I suggested they shove an inflated Jumping Castle down the gap which provided them much amusement.
The restumpers KINDLY moved all those garbage bags of rubble in to the skip. They're on to their second skip now. Needless to say, neighbours have started throwing rubbish in there. Oh and I got what I wanted out of the letterbox - a bank statement so I could get a parking permit.
I've been working an another renovation - helping my parents prepare a place they're selling. Excuse the hideous blue jeans.
I thought that your idea of the jumping castle was very good in principle, after all they use airbags to lift vehicles involved in accidents.
ReplyDeleteAnd then there was the storm! it will be an amazing back-story for a front street reno AS x
ReplyDeletewas it the first time you were excited to receive your banks statement? :)
ReplyDeleteand a bouncing castle idea is genius! (patent it, quick, before apple does it!)
Yay yay yay! -sal
