My house is getting high

We're getting there. We're getting there.

The restumping is almost done, the house is getting higher and has new base plates/joists. The neighbours keep turning off power to the cable running in from their house. We've only actually used 2 days ($) of electricity off them so far, but we've had the cable in there for a month. How to explain this to them when they're hard to get hold off and their house is gated off with no doorbell. The other day temperatures hit 37C and the poor guys hand to hand saw timber in the heat. Meanwhile I hit the beach.  There is really nothing I, myself can do on the house at the moment.

I saw an interesting piece yesterday on a studio apartment in New York. It was fitted out so there are actually 8 functional spaces in one = small footprint both physically and environmentally. He can even hold a dinner party for 10 people! The vertical space in this apartment is equally important.
Therefore, the fact my house is small means I don't have to lose out on functionality.

  1. Hot house or beach? Hard decision but you most probably got it right. It's good to see some movement (literally) on the house front.

  3. Alright Caroline, love your beach photos, just been reading your house blog and I'm very cross at the naughty people that have been using your skip. I'd put a high voltage fence around it, that would learn 'em! Alison xxxx

I better not look out of my window to confront with reality!

As for the guy - there was one in China who's done it first and in a smaller space...
