Would you believe it, the cavity it took a day. Was more complicated that you'd think due to getting it plumb and minimising damage to the weatherboards. The shelving will be inset so to minimise intrusion in to the hallway.
Now ready make shelving and slot it in this hole. Will have the plaster go around the cavity. I also had to move the electrical wiring around this spot - have decided to get the electrician back to add a few things anyway.

The site is a mess once again and needs a clean up but always so futile when it returns to the mess the next day. (don't worry I don't have this philosophy about every day cleaning)
